Centre for Research in Public Policy (CRPPL) of Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad is concerned with establishing a concrete research paradigm within our university, and largely, within the socio-legal community. From conducting Socratic dialogues to undertaking inter- disciplinary research, the Centre seeks to engage in stimulating conversations and analyses, which result in an informed understanding of various issues ranging from citizenship to free speech.
The Centre seeks to achieve its aims and objectives by conducting various workshops, panel discussions, competitions and undertaking research projects. In its past academic years, CRPPL has conducted a range of activities like Socratic dialogue on pressing issues; holding a panel discussion and drafting recommendation over social security code which was submitted to Ministry of Labour and Employment; national level workshop on election laws in India etc (see the end of the brochure for description of activities conducted in detail).
In order to proceed forth with its vision, CRPPL has planned a series of events for the academic year 2020-21. The tentative events in view for the year 2020-2021 includes Online Policy Drafting competitions, workshops on Public Policy matters and in-house (online) Socratic dialogues and value-added courses on diverse topics.
Additionally, the centre has previously been involved in research on the possibility of an Anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) Legislation in India, and seeks to further focus on new research questions emerging due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Research ideas by cell members are encouraged and regularly taken up, to help students pursue their line of interest through the auspices of the cell, or individually.
